A sound that changes with vehicle speed may come from AVAS
The warning sound emitted by the BYD SEALION 7 at low speed comes from the low-speed warning sound system AVAS. It provides an audible reminder to pedestrians near the vehicle and behaves differently when moving forward and reversing. Understanding the sound pattern of this system helps repair technicians distinguish the normal pedestrian reminder sound from abnormal noises that require further localization.
When moving forward, if the vehicle speed is greater than zero and does not exceed 20 km/h, the warning sound increases as speed increases; if the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h but does not exceed 30 km/h, the sound decreases as speed increases; above 30 km/h, the warning sound stops automatically. Therefore, the sound of AVAS does not always increase with vehicle speed, and gradually becoming quieter in the corresponding speed range is itself a normal operating characteristic.
To judge a sound, first match it to the driving state
When driving in reverse, the vehicle emits a continuous, uniform warning sound, which differs from the behavior when moving forward that changes with vehicle speed. When recording the sound, driving direction and vehicle speed are equally important. Describing it only as “there is a sound at start” or “it becomes quieter after acceleration” makes it difficult to present the complete sound change; linking the timing of occurrence with the process of change makes it easier to identify the low-speed warning sound of BYD SEALION 7.
The source of the sound also needs to be confirmed. Even if the timing of occurrence is close to the operating range of AVAS, the actual sound source and pattern of change should still be used for judgment. After confirming that it comes from the warning sound system and that its behavior matches the corresponding operating condition, the normal function can be explained to the user; if the sound source or pattern is inconsistent, continue to localize the actual abnormality. For repair technicians, this judgment helps match the sound heard by the user with the system behavior, while explaining the normal function and retaining attention to abnormalities, making the sound diagnosis of BYD SEALION 7 more targeted.
